starlings & squirrels were they.
As aft I sprung some dough & energy -
to feeder dusted - filled w/ bird bounty spec’d
and set a stone a rock under a Japanese
Maple bare of for photosynthesis red greenage
anew a “they” - and bewares the neighbor’s cat,
By the rock the stone a set feeders stone -
a cup a day of they from bag’d bounty spec’d -
the sparrows aplenty - but 1 (?) lost to the cat -
em not nocturnal winged and footed -
billed beaked - and to my surprise -
harey & big eared an early riser -
the sparrows aplenty - but fight for a rung -
as let the feeder & rock reduce one day -
tis now near sun up and flocking renews -
oh yes when the morning doves took to the eve
for finding the scaps away from the rock
bare as the feeder crumbs attracked
in thinking of the cat - worrisome to baiting -
with the rains - oh heavy rains - passed
to the rock the feeding stone renewed stocked -
a cup a day to more now passed that first brave
feeder sparrow doth spot refreshment and renew
with the feeder hung by the house’s doors
and to smacked the glass in first flights depart
but a winged to still aflight and flown the feeding -
a community is gathering - say cross flocking -
as a rock a feeding stone sets the table
for comity to polity of suffice for many beaked -
Now they come - and maybe the rabbit again -
this time the starling took to the spec’d near
last of the birds - matched paired cardinals.
Yes! - morning doves and more than sparrows,
and to sharing more now than a cup a day - with em
squirrelish gray more common to the plat.
